During the industrial revolution Parys Mountain was Britain's most productive copper mine. This was the site’s most prolific period, but it's mining history goes back far earlier. Bronze age remains including primitive mining tools were discovered at part of the site called ‘Chwarel yr Eigion’ or ‘Quarry of the Oxen.’ This happens to be the same part of the site where high grade ore was first struck in the 1800s after many failed attempts. This body of work documents how mass industry has damaged the natural environment at Parys Mountain and how nature has reclaimed since mining ceased.
